Creating the Look: Pinup

Akeevah volunteered to be part of my "Creating the Look: Pinup" project early on. She has a beautiful face, perfectly shaped features, and a sweet attitude. We decided to create a slightly seductive pinup look for her.

I prepped and primed Akeevah's face with several primers from M*A*C to conceal & cover any flaws (of which there were few!). I also applied a spray fixative to hold the makeup in place.

Using a cream foundation cut with moisturizer, I applied foundation over her whole face. We were looking for flawless skin, so I was certain to blend and even-out her skin tone around the mouth and under the chin.

I applied a cream foundation with my fingertips, blending it upwards on the apples of her checks. I dramatically darkened her eyebrows to match the pitch black tone of her hair. As usual, I applied a dark black liquid-like liner across her upper lash line, pulling it slightly out past the eyelids.

Many women of darker complexion, like Akeevah, dislike pink tones. I decided to take a chance and applied a light, subtle, pink eyeshadow to match her cute lingerie set.

I applied black false eyelashes and gave her eyelashes a curl and double coat of mascara to really create a dramatic eye. While her eyelashes dried, I applied a neutral brown lipliner and color.

Akeevah had arrived, as a good model does, with rollers in her hair, but unfortunately her hair wasn't completely dry! I used a blowdryer to blow out her hair, while still keeping some shape and curl.

Then I shooed Akeevah out onto the backdrop and she and bcj. worked their magic. I love the results, don't you?
